Compensation

Package valued up to $182,461 plus incentives where applicable.
Base salary ranges from $101,122 – $160,983 (excluding automatic progression to $160,983 SPAC).
Rural and remote incentives of $20,000 to $30,000 per annum may apply.

About the Role

School psychologists provide counselling and psychological assessment of students, complementing the work of teachers to strengthen student learning and wellbeing outcomes. The role involves individual, group, and short‑term therapeutic interventions, assessment, and collaboration with school staff, parents, and external agencies.

Key accountabilities include:

- Providing counselling and psychological services to students individually and in groups.

- Engaging with and implementing the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.

- Working in consultation with the principal, school executive, staff and student support services to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes.

- Administering cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioural assessments, reporting results and collaborating to enhance outcomes.

- Working collaboratively with learning and support teams, parents, carers, and agencies to develop school‑based support for students.

- Responding as part of a team to assist schools during serious incidents.

- Referring students and families to other agencies for additional support.

Essential requirements:

1. Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG.

2. General or Provisional Psychology Registration with active internship (Psychology Board of Australia).

3. Valid and current Working with Children Check clearance.

4. Current and valid driver’s licence and ability and willingness to travel between work sites.

5. Australian citizenship or permanent residency.

Additional conditions:

- This is a permanent part‑time position (0.6 FTE) commencing 27 January 2026.

- Applicants seeking full‑time or part‑time arrangements may be considered for FTE between 0.1 and 0.9.
