Engaging with stakeholders and taking business partnering responsibility for a $300mil cost profile, this is an opportunity to be an on the ground business partner taking the reporting, interpreting the financial outcome with key stakeholders in our operations and then deciding with them what to do with the numbers. You will bring your knowledge and experience as a business partner in the transport / freight industry to add value to this role.

You will be responsible for the finance business partnering and commercial support to the Transport Operations. You will have the ability to influence outcomes. You will be part of a growing and well respected team with scope to make a difference. You will be given the trust, authority and autonomy to help your stakeholders make commercial decisions. You will gain exposure to senior leaders on a daily basis.

This job is done out of our Sunshine site located at 42 Industrial Drive Sunshine West, with ample parking and great transport links. This location in the Western suburbs is the beating heart of Australia Post & Startrack's Victorian network.

Your role will include but is not limited to financial reporting of the Transport Linehaul interstate and local transport operations as well as the domestic and international operations within the Delivery Network. This will include the preparation of monthly P&Ls and early estimates, annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, capital planning/ investments, tracking and reporting of business initiatives and their associated benefits, and business partnering stakeholders to ensure they are provided with accurate and timely financial information to enable informed business decisions to be made.

What you’ll deliver with us

- Build and maintain strong and trusted relationships with the operational teams and internal finance stakeholders.
- Provide data driven commercial insights to Freight Services, enabling them to make informed decisions to deliver business strategies.
- Analyse and provide commercial advice and insights to ensure financial outcomes for the parcels business.
- Take accountability for month end reporting, planning & forecasting. Including accurate and timely mid month estimates, quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and the presentation of monthly insights to key stakeholders.
- Analyse and monitor budgetary assumptions and results that ensure operational performance and capital maximisation.
- Play a key role in new product development and provide insightful advice on new opportunities and target markets.

About you

You will be a high achieving accounting professional who is able not just to translate accounting results and reports into information for commercial stakeholders, but to help them understand what it means and work with them on the options & scenarios available to them from the financial information.

- You will be a qualified accountant with significant experience in the transport / freight industry.
- Experience and an understanding of financial control & reporting to understand where the numbers are coming from, and to interrogate them if required.
- High level financial, analytical, interpretive and problem solving skills. The ability to look at problems from an accounting perspective, but also to anticipate and understand other perspectives and put multiple lenses on a problem / solution.
- Be able to correlate and sift data from a wide variety of sources, interrogate the data and information that you are given and translate that into business performance insights.
- Have excellent systems skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and some experience with data visualisation tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating an ability to develop and document procedures and provide reporting accurately to relevant stakeholders. An ability to get your message across concisely and accurately to different audiences
