Racing Queensland (RQ) is a statutory body whose primary purpose is to promote, enhance, and provide a platform to service the industry across three codes of racing: Thoroughbred, Greyhound, and Harness. RQ’s Mission is to champion great racing and events which connect Queensland communities.

Role summary:

Reporting to the General Manager Procurement, the primary responsibility of the Senior Procurement Specialist is to lead Racing Queensland’s (RQ) strategic and complex sourcing projects and to provide comprehensive procurement expertise and support to RQ Business Units. This role will contribute to achieving optimal results through best‑value project sourcing, contract and supplier management by utilising effective, efficient and compliant procurement processes, systems and stakeholder engagement.

What you’ll do, day to day

- Own and manage a procurement portfolio, including managing a range of complex requirements with significant risk profiles.

- Manage contract lifecycles, ensuring current contracts are performing as intended and that expiring contracts are managed appropriately.

- Maximise opportunities to the use of government common‑use supply arrangements.

- Coach and guide business units to generate a clear scope of requirements for each procurement activity.

- Chair evaluation committees and lead commercial evaluations to ensure that all relevant factors contributing towards cost and price are evaluated.

- Drive procurement education across the organisation supporting alignment with the Queensland Procurement Policy (QPP) and RQ’s strategic objectives.

Qualifications

- 5+ years’ experience in senior procurement roles.

- Queensland Government procurement experience (highly advantageous).

- Strong understanding of the Queensland Procurement Policy and common‑use supply arrangements (highly advantageous).
