Job Description
We are seeking a Learning Support Officer to support our students and add to the positive culture of our school. The position has an FTE of 0.86 spread over five days a week or negotiated with the suitable candidate.
Galilee Regional Catholic Primary School is a warm and friendly community with a diverse group of students and a vibrant staff who are passionate and enthusiastic about teaching and learning. Our Learning Support Officer staff are required to have a positive approach to learning and teaching and a belief that all students can learn. They need to be able to demonstrate a high level of flexibility and adaptability to adjust to the changing needs of students and classes.
Galilee is situated close to the city in South Melbourne and has a current enrolment of 368 students. As a Child Safe School, Galilee is committed to the safety and welfare of all students and complies with all aspects and legal obligations related to the standards.
Hours of work: 8.35-3.35pm. Applications are due by 9am on Monday 20th October, however we may employ earlier if a suitable candidate applies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work within a collaborative education environment, liaising with Classroom Teachers, the Learning Diversity Leader, and other Learning Support Staff.
- Support the learning of students with additional needs in the classroom, attending to adjustments in Personalised Learning Plans.
- Use spreadsheets to track sessions with students for formal NCCD requirements.
- Support students with a range of needs including students with a diagnosis of ASD and ADHD.
- Assist with supporting students during recess and lunchtime.
- Comply with the school’s Child Safety Policy, Code of Conduct, and procedures relating to Child Safety.
- Sign and adhere to our Child Safe Standards.
Special Requirements:
Applicants should have obtained or be willing to undertake a Certificate III (or higher qualification) in Education Support and must hold a current Working With Children's Check. All applicants should provide a written application outlining relevant experience, skills, and/or knowledge, a current resume with two referees who can be contacted by phone prior to the interview.
