Australia NES Global Talent Full time

Overview

Applying for: Philanthropy Manager (0.8FTE) – Geelong Community Foundation

Introducing Harvest Talent Recruitment & People Solutions

The Geelong Community Foundation champions a permanent endowment model, distributing a portion of funds under management annually to address current and systemic challenges in employability, health (including mental health), education, cost of living, social support, and homelessness. Guided by its enduring ambition of “Giving Forever” the Foundation exists to create meaningful change in perpetuity—backed by a committed donor base and a collaborative, impact-driven team comprising the CEO, Grants Manager, Communication Manager, and the Philanthropy Manager, with administrative support.

The Role & Its Purpose

We are seeking an authentic, strategic Philanthropy Manager who will engage deeply with donors and communities, connecting them with causes that truly resonate.

Beyond growing the corpus, you’ll create new and inspiring ways for donors to participate—from engaging younger philanthropists through annual giving and collective initiatives like P500, to establishing Women’s Impact, theme-based, or regional giving groups. You’ll also design corporate giving and structured Gifts in Wills programs that extend the Foundation’s reach and legacy.

You’ll be hands-on, from ideation to execution, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with a talented team and dedicated volunteers. The role is 0.8 FTE, with 2.5 office days required (Monday to Wednesday), and an expectation to play a key role at events, regional committees and clubs, and support with marketing and administrative tasks as needed, such as coordination and administration of the Donor Communications Committee Meetings.

Responsibilities

- Engage deeply with donors and communities, connecting them with causes that resonate.

- Grow the Foundation’s corpus and create new participation avenues for donors (annual giving, collective initiatives, regional and thematic giving groups).

- Design corporate giving and Gifts in Wills programs to extend reach and legacy.

- Lead from ideation to execution, working with a team and volunteers.

- Support events, regional committees/clubs, marketing, and administrative tasks as needed, including coordination of Donor Communications Committee meetings.

Selection Criteria

- Demonstrated experience managing philanthropic funds, ideally within corpus models and community-driven grant making.

- Passion for community and donor engagement and a commitment to achieve meaningful change.

- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build and nurture relationships with diverse stakeholders.

- Proven capacity for strategic thinking, staying abreast of philanthropic trends, and delivering on the Foundation’s Fundraising Strategy.

- Adaptability, initiative, and a collaborative spirit.

- Dedication to upholding the Foundation’s values and advancing its mission.
