Learning & Development Advisor
At Saab Australia, we’re experts in advanced Defence, security, and civil solutions — delivering technology that protects Australia and keeps our people safe. As we continue to build the workforce of the future, we’re looking for a Learning & Development (L&D) Advisor to help shape, deliver, and elevate our early careers and capability development programs across the business.
As a key member of the People & Culture (P&C) team, the Learning & Development Advisor will play an important role in implementing Saab’s Early Careers Framework and broader learning strategy.
You’ll design, coordinate, and deliver programs that grow our talent pipeline — from graduates and interns to emerging technical professionals — ensuring our workforce remains future-ready.
We work in a fast-paced, demanding, challenging as well as time sensitive environment; we’re diverse, global, resilient, adaptable and agile, therefore the ability to solve problems is critical.
This position also offers Flexible working options and a 9 Day Fortnight.
The opportunity
This role combines strategic coordination with hands-on delivery and stakeholder engagement across the business, making it ideal for an ambitious professional eager to influence Saab’s learning culture and capability uplift initiatives. You will:
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate and deliver Learning & Development programs, ensuring smooth planning, scheduling, and communication across the business.
- Support the implementation of Saab’s Early Careers Framework, managing graduate, intern, scholarship, and STEM outreach initiatives.
- Partner with business leaders, managers, and participants to ensure a positive early-career experience through proactive engagement and problem-solving.
- Manage program logistics — from financial processing (POs, invoices, budgets) to event organisation and reporting.
- Develop and refine program materials, documentation, and collateral to enhance participant experience and process consistency.
- Track and report on key learning and development metrics, generating actionable insights and recommendations.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Finance, P&C, Supply Chain, Communications) and external suppliers to ensure effective delivery.
- Gather feedback, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to the continuous evolution of Saab’s learning and capability ecosystem.
About you
You’re an organised, proactive professional with a passion for people development and a knack for bringing structure and clarity to complex programs. You thrive in a fast-paced, technical environment and are confident managing multiple stakeholders with professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
Experience & Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in learning and development, early careers, or HR coordination roles.
- Proficient in HRIS platforms (ideally Workday) and advanced Microsoft Excel (data merging, analysis, reporting).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of building positive relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet strict deadlines.
- Experience managing confidential information with discretion, integrity, and professionalism.
- Exposure to Defence, engineering, or complex technical environments highly regarded.
- Clear understanding of systems & safety engineering, configuration and asset lifecycle principles in a complex defence environment.
Qualification and Clearance:
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Baseline Defence Security Clearance (Australian citizenship required).
- Security clearance at NV1 or higher (AGSVA)
Personal Attributes:
- Self-motivated and solutions-focused, with a growth mindset and willingness to adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Displays integrity, trust, and professionalism in all interactions.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to service excellence.
- Collaborative and inclusive, fostering teamwork and positive engagement.
- Embodies Saab’s core values — Trust, Expertise, and Drive.
