Step Into a Role That Gives Back
Goondir Health Services is looking for multiple full-time Vocationally Registered General Practitioners across three major locations in regional Queensland:
- Chinchilla
- St George
These positions report to the Senior Medical Officer and form part of a multidisciplinary clinical team, delivering culturally safe, patient-centred primary healthcare to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Providing culturally responsive patient consultations (full cultural safety training and induction provided)
- Managing chronic disease and preventative health plans
- Collaborating with Aboriginal Health Practitioners and allied health teams
- Supporting maternal and child health, mental health, and wellbeing initiatives
- Utilising telehealth and local referral pathways
- Ensuring compliance with AGPAL and ISO clinical governance
- Participating in monthly peer support and professional development forums
You’ll be supported by a wide clinical network, including access to dental services, cardiology (Heart of Australia), endocrinology, paediatrics, psychiatry, ophthalmology, optometry, general medicine, antenatal care, respiratory physicians (IROC), and a broad range of allied health programs.
The Kind of Doctor We’re Looking For
To be considered, you must be a Vocationally Registered (VR) GP, holding Fellowship with RACGP, ACRRM, or an equivalent college, along with unrestricted AHPRA registration.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in general practice is essential, ideally with exposure to rural, remote, or Aboriginal health settings.
You’ll also bring:
- A strong understanding of cultural safety principles (or a willingness to develop this, with full training and support provided)
- Proficiency in Medicare billing and patient care planning
- The ability to work independently with a community mindset
- Interest in long-term regional engagement and continuity of care
You’re a values-aligned, approachable, and proactive clinician that operates with integrity, cultural respect, and clinical diligence.
Ideal candidates will thrive in a collaborative team environment and are motivated to drive real outcomes in community-based healthcare.
Rewards That Reflect Your Impact
Your total remuneration package will vary slightly depending on your chosen clinic location. Key benefits include:
- Base salary up to $390,000
- $30,000 superannuation
- $300 per week vehicle allowance
- Free furnished housing or a $450/week housing allowance (location dependent)
- Work Incentive Payments (WIP) between $18,000 and $35,000 per year, depending on location

- Salary packaging up to $15,900 p.a. and $2,650 entertainment benefits
- Relocation assistance up to $10,000
- 50% Medicare commission on monthly billings above $21,000 — this can significantly increase your annual take-home salary, with further uplift anticipated due to new billing changes from November 2025
- Flexible weekday roster: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm (no after-hours or weekends)
- Uniforms, CPD support, and cultural development included
- Work in a fully accredited AGPAL and ISO-compliant clinical environment
- Location-specific housing or allowance (see above)
- 4 Weeks Annual Leave (No Loading)
- 2 Weeks Personal Leave
- 1 Week Study Leave
Optional: Independent Contractor Model
- Daily rates from $1,600 to $2,000, based on skills and availability
- Commission available on billings above $35,000/month
- Ideal for experienced GPs seeking flexible short- or long-term engagements
