Primary objective

Provide a high level of administrative and secretarial support to the staff of Nhulunbuy High School including the School Executive.

Context statement

Nhulunbuy High School is a comprehensive and inclusive secondary school that caters for students in years 7 to 12, with a current

student population of 290, of whom 40% are Indigenous. The school includes a Special Education Annexe, a Maritime Training

Facility and a 40-bed boarding facility for Indigenous students from remote communities across Arnhem Land, and the Clontarf

and Stars programs for support. Through the Australian Curriculum, we provide pathways for students to achieve the NTCET,

including an ATAR for university, or further training and employment through a VET qualification. The school has approximately

60 employees which includes teachers, administration and support staff.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Undertake a wide range of administrative duties and provide confidential secretarial services for the School Executive

2. and staff including coordination of special projects and school Presentation Night.

3. Manage the school's corporate, administrative records and the general student information databases as required,

including records for school excursions.

4. Provide relief for both the Receptionist and SAMS Administrator roles and assist with the organisation and administration of

the school office as necessary.

5. Attend to student enquiries, first aid and document production requests in conjunction with Front Office administration staff.

6. Update and monitor the school's Facebook page, Instagram, website and electronic sign as required.

7. Any other duties as directed by the Principal, Assistant Principal or Business Manager.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Possess strong knowledge and working experience in office procedures and in using a range of IT software including

2. Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher and databases.

3. Ability to communicate effectively both in person and in writing to produce high quality documents for a variety of purposes,

audiences and platforms including website and social media.

4. Proven ability to determine priorities, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines and to work flexibly and with minimal

5. supervision to complete tasks to a very high standard.

6. High level of interpersonal skills and success in working within a team environment and able to interact with a diversity of

students and adults in a cross-cultural environment.

7. Possess a current Working with Children's Clearance (Ochre Card) and current First Aid certificate or the ability to obtain.
