ABOUT GABRIELLE

Gabrielle de Vietri is the Greens Member for Richmond in the Victorian Parliament. She leads a small, high energy and collaborative team making progressive change in the community and through parliament. Her portfolios include Housing, Renters’ Rights, Arts and Peace & Disarmament.

Gabrielle is looking for a passionate and proactive Communications Advisor to join the team to design and deliver strategic communications in alignment with local campaigns, portfolio issues, parliament and policy work. You will work closely with Gabrielle and other team members to create compelling pieces of communication that connect the community to their
state representative, and move people into action around our issue based campaigns. The role is situated in the office in Fitzroy, in Victorian Parliament and around the Richmond electorate depending on local needs and events.

This role includes planning, developing and executing digital campaigns, including emails and digital advertising, managing Gabrielle’s digital presence, creating content for and managing websites and social media, and designing, coordinating and managing print materials and outdoor visibility.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL

- Lead the development and execution of Gabrielle’s integrated communications strategy across digital, print and outdoor channels.
- Create and deliver engaging, timely, and authentic content (video and static) with an audience-first approach across Gabrielle’s social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, BlueSky, Facebook, and more.
- Produce politically incisive communications in response to the daily media cycle, inserting Gabrielle’s voice into relevant issues.
- Proactively build community awareness of Gabrielle, including looking for new platforms, opportunities and emerging audiences.
- Write and produce reports including on analytics, and communicate proactively with the team.
- Manage and monitor Gabrielle's social media channels and online communities engaging with DMs and comments as required.
- This is a small, collaborative office where staff have defined roles, with some flexibility and sharing of roles as needed.
- All roles will work with Gabrielle to develop and implement the long term strategy of the team and all staff will be expected to undertake some administrative tasks.
- At times staff also undertake other duties as required, including representing Gabrielle at events, supporting the other roles in Gabrielle’s team, answering the phone, helping constituents, responding to correspondence, keeping on top of the events of the day, and more.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

- Experience in strategic communications and/or campaigns within political or advocacy settings.
- Demonstrated ability to comprehend complex political issues, think strategically and communicate appropriately under rapidly changing circumstances using contemporary campaigning and communication tactics.
- Strong pulse on the digital landscape with the ability to develop and execute content for key audiences based on trends and algorithmic impacts.
- Demonstrated scripting, filming and video editing skills, using the Adobe Creative Suite, Capcut, TikTok and Instagram Reels.

- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as part of a collaborative team and manage competing priorities under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Understanding of the Victorian political context and the Greens universe, including a commitment to Greens’ principles and policies.
