Building Inspector (Pool Barrier/Pool Safety) - Salary: 94,406.52 to 109,512.00 p/a + super - Permanent full time position – 35 hours per week - Access to private use of a vehicle through Council’s Private Leaseback Scheme - Access to Flex Leave About Ku-ring-gai Council Located 16 km’s north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and set in one of New South Wales’ most attractive natural environments. About the role Council is currently seeking a highly motivated and qualified Building Inspector – Pool Barrier/Pool Safety to join our Compliance and Regulation Team. This is your opportunity to play a critical role in ensuring the safety of swimming pool barriers across one of Sydney’s most scenic and vibrant local government areas. Your duties will include, but are not limited to: - Conduct inspections of swimming pool barriers under Council’s statutory inspection program - Assess applications for compliance certificates and respond to complaints or referrals - Issue relevant compliance documentation, including Notices, Orders, Certificates and Infringements - Provide expert advice and customer service to pool owners, residents and industry professionals - Collect evidence and represent Council in legal proceedings where required - Maintain accurate and up-to-date inspection records - Liaise with owners, occupiers and stakeholders to bring about safe, compliant outcomes - Contribute to ongoing service improvements, policy development, and community education initiatives Qualifications, Skills & Experience - Accredited Swimming Pool Inspector (Building Inspector) under the Building & Development Certifiers Regulation 2020 - Advanced Diploma in Building Surveying (or similar relevant tertiary qualification) - Current NSW Driver’s Licence - Hands-on experience in pool barrier inspections - Strong knowledge of swimming pool legislation, building control practices, codes and Australian standards - Proven ability to interpret and apply a range of barrier standards in various contexts - High-level written and verbal communication skills - Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills - Strong teamwork and a collaborative, customer-focused attitude Benefits - 35 hour working week - Eligibility to participate in Council’s flexible work scheme (flex leave) - Access to private use of a vehicle through Council’s Private Leaseback Scheme - Access to Fitness Passport - Up to $100 Health & Fitness yearly reimbursement (conditional) - Free confidential Employee Assistance Program - Beautiful Ku-ring-gai Location - Supportive team environment - Access to a wide range of development and training opportunities For more information on the benefits offered at Ku-ring-gai Council, please refer to our website – "click here" (note: link not included in refined version).
