Urgent Search Empowered Together Coordinator

Overview

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a social worker or professional with appropriate experience to work in close partnership with the researchers in the delivery of an NIHR funded trial Empowered Together (co-ordinated social care in prison).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will take the role of an Empowered Together (ET) Social Care Coordinator on the research study. They will receive specialist training.

The post holder will have a crucial role in the planning, coordination and delivery of the intervention. This comprises screening for social care needs, assessment and care coordination. They will have excellent communication and presentation skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and attention to detail. Strong organisational skills when faced with challenges are required along with an ability to work to key targets and deadlines.

You must be either a trained social worker or a professional with social care experience/training. We are looking for an energetic dynamic, self-directed and committed individual with an interest in becoming a key part of our research team and working with us to understand the unmet needs within the prison system.

Person Specification

Qualifications

- A recognised Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social Care Qualification at Degree level or above or equivalent experience
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council or equivalent

Knowledge

- Knowledge and understanding of prison services and potential protective factors.
- Knowledge of current best practice in supporting prisoners.
- Knowledge and understanding of the legislative and policy framework appropriate to the needs of service users from a wide range of backgrounds.

Experience

- Assessing the needs of individuals and their families
- Experience in formulating and implementing effective social work/care interventions or similar.
