Role Purpose

Victoria has secured funding to trial a new type of Education Support role to reduce teacher workload. The Trade School Support Officer will undertake a range of operational tasks typically performed by teachers that do not require a teaching qualification, VIT registration or teacher knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

- Set up the classroom, source or collate learning materials and assist with equipment for students with additional needs, record attendance.

- Maintain registers, audit equipment and arrange cyclical upkeep.

- Order, purchase and organise classroom materials and resources for classes and events.

- Research and advise on suitable learning materials for classroom use.

- Upload teacher completed documents onto online systems, enter student data.

- Convert documents between platforms (Compass, Canvas, Google Classroom).

- Create and maintain displays of student work.

- Complete systems processing work such as data entry, purchasing, payments and reports.

- Collate student assessment data for PLC meetings.

Key Selection Criteria

- Strong organisational skills, prioritise and complete tasks timely.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to work effectively in a team and take direction from teachers and school leadership.

- Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software applications quickly.

Qualifications and Experience

- Valid Working with Children check.

- Experience in administrative roles desirable.

- Experience in a school or educational setting desirable.
