HS&E Supervisor – PPM Projects (Contract Role)

Reports To: Project Controls Manager – PPM

About the Opportunity

PPM is seeking a capable and safety-driven Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Supervisor to join our Berth and Commodity Handling Projects delivery team. This is a pivotal role in supporting the safe execution of major infrastructure works in a dynamic construction environment.

You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team under the guidance of the Project Manager and Project Controls Manager to embed a proactive safety and environmental culture across the project.

Key Responsibilities

1. Safety & Environmental Leadership

2. Promote and uphold safety-first principles across all construction activities.

3. Maintain awareness and compliance with HS&E management plans.

4. Implement and govern project-specific HS&E documentation and systems.

5. Actively monitor construction activities and support the project team with incident management and safety improvement initiatives.

6. Governance & Compliance

7. Support preparation and review of HS&E documentation including SWMS, JSEAs, and subcontractor safety plans.

8. Facilitate site inductions and contractor compliance tracking.

9. Assist in incident investigations and close-out processes using PPM systems.

10. Audit contractor safety documentation and project compliance.

11. Planning & Delivery Support

12. Maintain and update HS&E Management Plans and project governance documents.

13. Collaborate closely with engineering and construction teams to review risks and apply mitigation measures.

14. Participate in risk assessments, environmental reporting, and stakeholder coordination.

15. Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction, with 2+ years in a dedicated HS&E role.

16. Proven experience working on civil construction projects.

17. Strong understanding of Australian Safety & Environmental Regulations.

18. Qualifications in Work Health and Safety (Cert IV or Diploma preferred).

19. High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

20. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project) and a working understanding of scheduling.

21. Previous experience facilitating safety training and inductions.

22. Demonstrated ability to lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation.

23. Experience working with multi-contractor environments on major infrastructure projects.

24. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently within project deadlines.
