Overview

Our client is a family-owned business established in 1972 and recognised as one of Australia’s top performing Agribusinesses. We are recruiting for experienced Production Horticulturalists who are highly motivated and enthusiastic to cultivate a large scale vegetable cropping.

Role Description

The position involves propagating and cultivating or growing plants in a production horticulture environment. The work can be undertaken in an indoor facility or shed, or outdoor farm setting, or both.

Responsibilities

- Propagate and cultivate plants in a production horticulture environment
- Engage in plant nursery propagation, cultivation, irrigation and growing of vegetables, fruits, berries, nuts and other crops
- Order seed, fertilizer and chemicals
- Select seeds based on weather and soil conditions and yield
- Prepare growing media and suitable trays, pots and containers
- Manage the propagation and planting operation
- Maintain sufficient stocks of plant foods and fertilizers
- Undertake transport and logistics for delivery of sales stock
- Ensure relevant equipment is maintained
- Maintain good plant health and manage disease
- Manage biosecurity risks
- Implement irrigation of crops
- Sample and interpret soil conditions and compost
- Provide advice on plant and seed varieties
- Maintain soil, hydroponic, plant, treatment and yield records

Qualifications and Skills

- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate on all levels
- Experience in production horticulture and modern farm machinery is preferred

Employment Details

This is a full-time position with salary range $68,000-$78,000 determined by experience. If you meet the criteria and want to work with modern farm machinery, we want to hear from you.
