The City of Rockingham is an award-winning local government located 40KM south of the Perth CBD and is known as the place where the coast comes to life. One of the fastest growing local governments in the south metropolitan area, we are responsible for the provision and delivery of high-quality services, facilities, and events that meet or exceed community expectations. Providing a safe and healthy workplace for our employees is important to us, and we are committed to employing team members who share the City’s Values of Recognition, Ethics, Service, Professional Development, Empowerment, Communication, and Teams – RESPECT. These Values are incorporated into all aspects of employment at the City.

Are you ready to lead a passionate team and make a visible impact on the City’s public open spaces? We’re looking for a driven and experienced turf management professional to take charge of both internal teams and external contractors, delivering outstanding results while championing a strong safety-first culture. In this leadership role, you’ll play a key part in shaping the green spaces our community enjoys every day—ensuring they’re not only maintained to the highest standard but continually improved through innovative, cost-effective practices.

You’re a self-starter with a strategic mindset, capable of providing expert guidance and direction to ensure best-practice turf management techniques are consistently applied. With a sharp eye for detail and a commitment to excellence, you’ll help us meet—and exceed—community expectations for pristine parks and reserves. Your deep knowledge of turf care, including fertilizer and herbicide application, renovation techniques, and scheduling, will be essential in delivering a proactive and high-quality service.

Beyond technical expertise, you bring strong interpersonal skills and thrive in a collaborative environment. You’re confident communicating across all levels of the organisation and with the community, and you’re passionate about mentoring staff and managing contractors effectively. You understand the importance of safety and compliance, and you’re well-versed in relevant legislation and standards.

To be successful in this role, you’ll hold a qualification in Turf Management or have gained equivalent knowledge through extensive hands-on experience. A current ‘C’ class driver’s licence and Construction Induction Training (White Card) are also required.

If you’re looking for a role where your leadership, expertise, and passion for green spaces can truly shine, we’d love to hear from you.

To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria as part of your online application:

- Advanced knowledge of turf management and public open space maintenance
- Comprehensive knowledge in the preparation and implementation of cyclical maintenance schedules
- Strong written and interpersonal skills, particularly verbal communication
- Intermediate level of computer literacy skills

- Extensive demonstrated experience in the supervising operational maintenance requirements of all turf and public open space functions including in-house field staff and contractors
- Experience in human resource management inclusive of performance management of underperforming employees
- Certificate IV in Turf Management or demonstrated learned knowledge through substantial experience working within the commercial turf management field

We are offering a gross salary of $99,138 per annum, and:

- 12% superannuation with the option to co-contribute up to a further 5%
- A variety of health and wellbeing programs including a physical health reimbursement subsidy payment of up to $200 per annum, free flu vaccinations, free skin cancer checks, mental health programs, and Employee Assistance Provider (EAP) services
- Flexible working arrangements, including work from home, rostered days off (9-day fortnight), and two additional paid days of absence per annum
- A culture of learning with training/development opportunities including paid study leave and study fees
