About You
You have a strong work ethic and commitment to completing tasks efficiently and to the highest standards. Previous experience in sports turf work or a related field will be highly regarded.
This role can be physically demanding and you must have the ability to safely lift and carry heavy objects, bend, squat, kneel and stand for extended periods.
Your ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team will help you to be successful in this role.
You are well versed in the operation of turf care equipment and machinery operations, including mowers, aerators, and sprayers and have a current driver's licence.
You already have or are willing to obtain a White Card and Working with Children Check - required due to the role being based in an education setting.
You have a mature and composed nature, excellent communication skills and would be confident to give your feedback on processes and procedures where you can see an improvement could be made.
About the Role
We are looking for a sports turf team member who will assist in maintaining and enhancing sports turf surfaces ensuring they remain lush, healthy, and resilient. Reporting to the Site Manager, this hands‑on role involves maintaining and enhancing turf areas, implementing sustainable practices, and delivering exceptional results. This role, based at Macquarie University, requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Responsibilities
- Perform regular maintenance tasks such as mowing, weed control and nutrition management to uphold the quality and playability of turf surfaces.
- Monitor turf health and proactively address issues such as pests, diseases, and compaction through appropriate cultural and chemical practices.
- Implement sustainable turf management practices, including water conservation strategies, and pest management techniques.
- Operate and maintain specialised turf equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Transitioning turf surfaces across multiple sporting codes.
- Line marking operations.
- Irrigation monitoring and maintenance
- Collaborate with the Site manager to coordinate maintenance schedules, prioritise tasks, and deliver exceptional results.
- Communicate effectively with Site manager to understand expectations, address concerns, and provide turf care recommendations.
