**About us**
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
**About the role**
Exercise a range of administrative, statutory and quasijudicial powers as a Registrar in accordance with the Magistrate' Court Act 1989 and other relevant Acts, rules and regulations.
- Coordinate cases within the family violence and intervention order jurisdiction, including family violence related criminal matters where appropriate
- Prepare written correspondence, reports, presentations and briefings on complex family violence issues, for a range of audiences including managers, magistrates and community groups
- In partnership with senior management, review, develop and deliver family violence education for other court staff and arrange and monitor professional development for support workers to support best practice within the family violence and intervention order jurisdiction
- Contribute to the Magistrates' Court's Family Violence Registrar network to support and enhance consistency in practice across the state
- Monitor case flow management indicators to help ensure performance targets are met, and that any barriers to achieving objectives are addressed
- Develop and implement local practices to improve the operation of the family violence jurisdiction, and other related jurisdictions, and the coordination of services at court
- In partnership with the judiciary and senior management, lead the region's response to family violence by establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, supporting collaboration between local agencies
- Manage the performance of the Court's family violence team to support achievement of team and individual objectives
- Coordinate referrals to court based support services and to community based service providers attending the court
- In partnership with senior management, lead the Court's local community engagement initiatives and contribute to other local community activities in relation to family violence and other related jurisdictions
- Provide operational expertise and advice to senior management regarding staff compliance with legislative requirements and procedures and arrange professional development for court staff to ensure training objectives are met (as required)
- As required, in partnership with senior management, support the effective operation of the Court, resolving operational issue s as they arise.
**About you**
The role requires excellent customer focus, experience working in a registry role and supporting all court users, an ability to collaborate and work in teams and work with AFM's and respondents in family violence matters. Required - Certivate iv in Governement (Court Services) or equivelent.
