WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

**About the Team**

You will be an integral member of the expanding Electronic Solutions team that collaboratively work alongside key stakeholders to design, develop and integrate Defence ready Training Simulators. You will be working from the Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence site located in Redbank, QLD.

**About the Role***

You will lead a team of Engineers to deliver simulation hardware equipment, while working collaboratively with the software team for a turnkey and bespoke system.

Reporting to the Technical Manager for Hardware and Training Equipment you will be responsible for design decisions, mentoring and leading a team of Hardware Engineers.

As the **Mechatronics Team Lead**, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

- Manage the hardware engineering activities, which include: design and development of mechanical and electrical systems for Vehicle Simulations;
- Coordinate program support and deliverables;
- Work with and lead the engineering team and ensure completion of hardware engineering activities;
- Interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders;
- Assist in additional responsibilities as required and determined by the Technical Manager - Hardware and Training Equipment; and
- Travel locally and nationally to support data gathering, supplier and customer support activities.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

- Extensive experience in design and working in a Senior role while leading a Design team and delivering on project based activities;
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering process and functional baseline management from specification writing, requirement analysis and traceability through to system level design/architecture/interface, and requirements management;
- Experience with industrial controllers, motors, drives and associated wiring documentation;
- Experience leading a multi-disciplined team of engineering and technical staff;
- Experience with CAD/CAE/FEA, Siemens NX (preferable), mainstream CAD, Strand 7, Altair or similar;
- Tertiary qualifications in a Mechatronics, Mechanical with Electrical or Electrical with Mechanical Design experience;
- Previous industry experience in Industrial, Automation, Robotics or R&D is highly desirable;
- Previous Defence or Automotive industry experience in delivering complex platforms and systems;
- Chartered or equivalent professional status from a relevant institution (CPEng, RPEQ, NER) would be advantageous;
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and written communication;
- Strong leadership experience and skills to motivate and guide a team;
- Ability to travel interstate; and
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
