**About the role**

Competency Specialist - Signals & Communications, you are integral to the success of V/lines Corporate Affairs Group.

This role will work with the Senior Competency Specialist to manage the competency and licencing of internal Signals & Communications staff.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide ongoing training and support to new and existing employees. This will include developing and maintaining internal training material in accordance with V/Line and Industry Standards.

Additionally, in this role you will also:
**Training Delivery**
- Conduct V/Line S&C Induction.
- Deliver internal training for various certifications (e.g., Certificate IV Electrical Railway Signalling)
- Provide mentoring and support to apprentices and trainees.
- Provide ongoing training and support for staff progression.

**Assessment**
- Conduct workplace training and assessments.
- Develop and deliver training programs.
- Maintain competency evaluation checklists and records.

**Compliance**
- Support in arranging external training.
- Maintain training and assessment records.
- Ensure external licenses and qualifications remain current.

**Industry Representation**
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the signalling network within V/Line
- Engage with the education community through career fairs, school visits, etc

**Site visits & the requirement to travel**

This role requires travel to sites throughout regional Victoria. It’s a great way to get out to the regions and see our beautiful State

**About you**

You are a Signal Technician with a broad understanding of signalling equipment and technology and keep up to date on advancements within the industry. You are passionate about the rail industry and have demonstrated experience within the Signalling and Communications portfolio.
- Certificate IV Rail Signalling (Essential)
- Certificate IV TAE and Diploma Rail Signalling (Desirable)
- 5 - 10 years as a qualified Signal Technician
- Experienced in a broad range of signalling equipment.
- Experience with Coaching/Mentoring
- Proven technical and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated alignment with V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
