Job description:
The unique value of this role is to lead and execute on the strategy for sustainable procurement, aligning and driving related initiatives, including specifically the coordination and delivery of the modern slavery statement for IAG.
This involves working with diverse stakeholders, advocating for sustainable procurement and representing the function internally and externally. The role includes identifying opportunities to improve practices related to sustainable procurement, which are aligned with the organisation’s business objectives.
The position involves managing projects related to sustainable procurement practices, supporting and developing the appropriate controls, processes, and capability, improving delivery and performance metrics monitoring in this area and advising senior stakeholders on trends and leading practices.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Development and implementation of a sustainable procurement strategy:
- Leads the development and operationalisation of the strategy along with the team and wider stakeholder base
- Assesses the enterprise and external leading sustainable procurement practices to identify improvement opportunities
- Develops projects that deliver on the sustainable procurement strategy objectives, bringing together cross-functional teams where required
- Effectively communicates, advocates and champions sustainable procurement and modern slavery legislation compliance across the business and key stakeholders including suppliers
- Executes the sustainable procurement strategy, integrating and embedding best-practice into procurement processes and building capability within the team and the supplier base
- Works across the various stakeholder teams, including Safer Communities (sustainability), risk, and supply-chain to ensure processes and operations frameworks incorporate sustainability practices and are aligned to the developed sustainable procurement strategy
- Ensures appropriate monitoring of metrics and measurement of performance including contributing to enterprises non-financial disclosure and external reporting requirements
- Works to embed sustainability into category and sourcing strategies, contracts, supplier performance management and risk management processes.
- Liaises with suppliers’ sustainability and corporate social responsibility teams as needed including to assess policies, processes, practices and/or collaboration opportunities.
**Skills & Experience**
- Sustainability, sustainable and ethical procurement experience including human rights
- Familiar with the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act reporting for Australia
- Experience in developing and delivering sustainable procurement programs embedding sustainability considerations into policy, procurement documentation, process, and capability
- Experience is sustainability due diligence, to ensure risks fully understood, and managed or accepted
- Ability to work and influence a varied stakeholder group
- Ability to work collaboratively within a large company organisational structure
- Able to manage and promote change
- Business or equivalent bachelor’s degree
- CIPS certification
