**About the role**:
The Finance and SMS Officer works as part of a small finance team that provides financial, budgeting and strategic management services to the department.

The role is responsible for:

- the timely and effective administration of the department’s practice management system (SMS)
- managing, improving and reporting on a range of corporate data and information contained within the SMS system
- undertaking a range of general accounting functions, including end of month calculations and accounts receivable, and contributing to the development and delivery of financial and system improvement projects
- providing flexible and timely support, advice and training.

**About you**:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

- experience in providing a wide range of financial administration services including the development and monitoring of financial reports, processes and functions, and the management and improvement of financial data systems and records
- experience in delivering high level administrative and customer support to a range of clients
- experience in accurately collecting, receipting, recording and maintaining data in databases
- demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
- proven ability to work effectively under limited direction and meet deadlines
- well-developed experience in the operation and administration of computer information systems and software, including the ability to analyse data, identify and resolve issues
- capacity to learn new technologies, methodologies and concepts quickly
- sound knowledge of and ability to interpret relevant Acts, Rules and Regulations.

**Desirable qualification**:
Have completed or are currently studying towards a finance or accounting qualification, recognised by the Auditor-General, and/or a full membership of a professional accounting body recognised by the Auditor-General.
