As our **Employee Relations Partner** and a member of the HR lead team, you’ll take ownership and the provision of advice and ownership of employee relations advisory services across ING Australia with a range of senior stakeholders from exco to SLT. This position is critical in mitigating risk and supporting compliance across a spectrum of related operations and initiatives relevant to employment law.

Reporting to the Executive Director of HR you’ll liaise closely with the HR Leadership team and wider stakeholders (i.e. external legal partners etc.) with a functional line to ING legal. This broad role will provide advisory support recommending solutions and in managing employee relations matters which deliver both appropriate people and business outcomes that align to our ING values.

To be successful in this role you’ll be someone who is up to date with changes and horizon changes in the external environment, takes the lead to advise stakeholders of potential legal risks for the business, and support internal change programs and process improvements (as appropriate). Solutions may be in the form of introducing or updating frameworks (and educating the business), seeking external SME and input/resources or leading an internal working group. You’ll be responsible for effectively engaging and briefing external employment law providers to optimise this function.

The real sell in this role is the variety and scope to keep strengthening ER knowledge across HR and the business. **What are you going to do? You will be**
- Supporting people leaders, HRBPs and WHS consultants to conduct appropriate case management of performance, disciplinary and other individual employee matters (incl. absenteeism)
- Effectively supporting people leaders in the execution of restructures, support may include ensuring appropriate risk assessment are undertaken, position comparability assessments are completed, drafting of scripts and reviewing proposed documentation
- Liaising with and managing escalation to external legal advisors in appropriate cases
- Developing and deploying appropriate ER training and support tools for people leaders, HR team and other key stakeholders, to support, simplify and encourage compliance with workplace regulation and a consistent approach to people management throughout the organisation
- Effectively managing workplace investigations, grievances and disputes
- Ensuring the regular review of HR policies, tools and systems to support compliance with workplace regulation and legal risk management
- Providing assistance to the business in managing any enterprise bargaining, industrial action, union disputes, and union relation issues (with support from external legal providers/specialist project resources where appropriate)

**What are we looking for? Someone who has**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (degree in Law, HR, or Industrial Relations or equivalent)
- Proven knowledge of HR and workplace issue management and employment legislation
- Minimum 5 -7 years’ experience in a HR Business Partnering role and/or Employment Law
- Extensive experience in providing expert technical and specialised ER/IR advice, including drafting relevant documentation
- Ability to successfully navigate challenging situations to bring participants to an outcome, particularly as the senior executive level
- Experience managing 3rd party retained partners and functional line to our legal counsel
- Proven experience in effectively educating people leaders and HR professionals to build ER knowledge and capability that aligns with the organisation’s employment risk appetite
- Experience in effective facilitation of internal training to upskill people leaders on ER matters and experience of working in an Agile environment will be seen as highly advantageous
- Experience in representing a corporate entity in industrial or employment matters at Fair Work Commission would be highly beneficial
- The ability to work in a fast paced environment; who is resilient and a systems thinker (a natural continuous improvement expert);
