**Your role**

The role undertakes triage and assessment of reports that have been assigned to the Community Supports and Investigations Unit by the NSW Ageing and Disability Abuse Helpline. The Triage and Assessment Officer provides timely and quality assessment and response to reports about abuse, neglect, and exploitation of adults with disability and older people.

**What you’ll do**
- Undertake timely actions in response to reports assigned by the Helpline, to enable the Community Supports and Investigations Unit to determine how best to deal with the report. Undertake assessments, conduct preliminary inquiries, and provide a timely, educated, and person-centred response, including by providing information, advice, referrals to appropriate services, and support.
- Identify risks and make prompt, realistic and appropriate decisions, including obtaining an emergency response, to protect the safety and wellbeing of adults with disability and older people.
- In relevant matters, provide early case coordination support to adults with disability and older people to improve their safety and wellbeing, including working with the adult, service providers and other relevant parties to facilitate an appropriate and coordinated response to the reported concerns.
- Handle complex and emotionally fraught reports with sensitivity and skill, maintaining with a clear focus on identifying and responding to the concerns of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of the adult with disability or older person.
- Participate and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and professional development to ensure practice knowledge and skills are contemporary and evidence based.
- Undertake and contribute to community engagement and capacity building activities to improve the prevention, identification, and response to abuse, neglect, and exploitation of adults with disability and older people

**What we’re looking for**
- Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent industry or professional experience in relevant area.
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of issues impacting client’s ability to access housing and the experience in linking clients to appropriate housing products to meet these housing needs.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills
- Capacity to understand and use computers, telecommunications or other technologies used by the organisation
- Knowledge of support services available to clients
- National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
