**WILDLIFE MAINTENANCE OFFICER**

**OVERVIEW**:
Reporting directly to the Curator, the Wildlife Maintenance Officer at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, will be responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and constructing various projects aimed at preserving and enhancing the well-being of koalas and other wildlife species living at the sanctuary. Your role will involve managing project timelines, resources, and budgets, as well as collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives and deadlines. As well as the above mentioned, this role will include a great deal of hands-on building, construction, and maintenance work This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires a strong passion for wildlife conservation, strong organisation, an ability to problem solve outside of the box, and excellent project coordination skills.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Project Planning and Operational Leadership**:

- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
- Coordinate and oversee the implementation of various projects within LPKS.
- Working closely with Curator to facilitate a cost-effective operation.
- Drive Operational efficiency and effectiveness of the various projects.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure projects are executed within allocated budgets and resource constraints.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and deliverables.
- Oversee the daily operations of the projects, asset utilisation, and operational performance.
- Ensure WH&S is maintained at the highest level and complies with all policies & procedures.

**Stakeholder Management**:

- Engage and communicate with internal stakeholders, including senior management and various departments, to align project goals and objectives.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, such as government agencies, environmental organizations, and community groups, to foster collaborative relationships and secure necessary permits and approvals.
- Represent the organisation in meetings, conferences, and public forums to promote project initiatives and gather support.
- Any other duties as reasonably delegated by the Curator.

**Monitoring and Reporting**:

- Establish project monitoring mechanisms to track progress, milestones, and key performance indicators.
- Prepare regular reports on project status, budget utilisation, and key outcomes for management and stakeholders.
- Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.

**QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS**:

- Training in project management would be highly beneficial.
- A strong focus on hands on work/building of Wildlife associated projects.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
- Good construction engineering, design, and building knowledge and an ability to use these for problem solving.
- Comfortable using a wide variety of standard hand tools for working with timber, steel, and concrete.
- A understanding of building techniques and how they interact with animals to produce products that are safe for housing animals in a public sanctuary environment.
- Some level of knowledge around legislation and minimum standards as it relates to the exhibited animal industry.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on fostering collaboration and motivating team members.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills to identify issues and develop appropriate solutions.
- Passion for wildlife conservation and a strong commitment to animal welfare.
- Physically fit and healthy and able to undertake manual labour tasks.
