**Your new role**

We have an opportunity for an exceptional leader, with knowledge and experience of operating within a rigorous regulatory framework, and with proven commercial acumen to join the Curtin Research Office.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the University can meet its ethical and compliance obligations in conducting research, and you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate a competitive advantage for Curtin through leadership in research.

This role leads a medium-sized team of specialists who provide direction, solutions and advice to ensure that researchers operate within relevant legislative and governance frameworks such as ethics, the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, and other related structures. You will also provide oversight of the Life Sciences Research Facility at Curtin. As a member of the Research Office Senior Management Group, you will foster and embed a values-led culture and end-user focussed support services.

**In this role, you will.**
- Provide leadership, facilitating research and ensuring research compliance within the legislative framework and University research integrity policies.
- Progress adverse notifications and complaints, and provide help and advice in investigations into research misconduct.
- Lead a positive culture change, and provide leadership to staff, through talent management, career discussions and performance reviews.
- Provide Subject Matter Expert input into the Research Office training activities.
- Provide oversight and governance of Curtin University’s Life Sciences Research Facility.

**To be successful in this role, you will have**
- Outstanding values-based leadership skills, including the ability to lead and inspire teams of professional staff to deliver exceptional performance & outcomes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills, with substantial experience preparing policy documents, procedures, briefings, and reports.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Completion of a relevant postgraduate qualification and / or extensive relevant experience in governance administration within a regulatory or compliance-based environment.
