**ABOUT THE ROLE**

The Advisor - Response and AtoN Systems supports the management of AMSA’s distress beacon detection system, vessel tracking systems, aids to navigation (AtoN) remote monitoring, satellite and high frequency radio distress communication systems.

You will manage the service contracts including liaising with end users and contractors. This role supports the Asset Management and Preparedness team with other related project work, information system support and the provision of communications links for AMSA’s AtoN network when required.

You will be responsible for:

- Managing AMSA’s arrangements for the provision of AMSA’s distress beacon detection, vessel tracking, various communication links and systems including AtoN remote monitoring.
- Supporting AMSA’s AtoN network including Australia’s non-shipborne AIS network and associated equipment and systems
- Working with contractors and service providers to resolve issues and faults with AtoN equipment, communications networks and systems.
- Investigating opportunities for leveraging existing AtoN information systems and new technologies to increase the efficiency of AtoN information management.

**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**

To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:

- Tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent skills in a relevant field (e.g. IT, Contract Management)
- Project/contract management qualifications or relevant experience.
- Well-developed skills and experience in IT and communication systems.
- Extensive experience in project and contract management.
- Experience in auditing service provider contract deliverables.
- Understanding of AIS, radio and satellite communication system concepts and systems.
