The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) is the independent statutory authority responsible for ensuring that employers of apprentices and trainees and providers of education and training (including course and qualification owners) meet quality standards, and that information is readily available to support informed choice in education and training.

**SES-1 Deputy CEO, Schools Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA)**

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer - Schools provides high level, strategic advice on relevant regulatory matters to the CEO and the VRQA Board and its committees. This critical leadership position is responsible for delivering on the significant responsibilities delegated to it by the CEO and the VRQA Board, including periodically leading complex regulatory reviews or investigations. The role has primary responsibility for school registration and reviews, senior and secondary foundational education, international education, student exchange organisations, school boarding premises, accreditation of VCE studies and accreditation of review bodies. The Deputy CEO - Schools has experience and demonstrable record of achievement and leadership in a regulatory context. The Deputy CEO undertakes leadership and management responsibilities for allocated regulatory activities that may include schools, or home education, or Vocational Education and Training, apprenticeship and traineeships.

The establishment and maintenance of excellent working relationships with influential internal and external stakeholders is a significant aspect of this position's responsibilities. The role will lead a team of approximately 25 staff and have responsibility for contract management of externally sourced providers.

The role also strategically supports the VRQA Board's Compliance and Quality Subcommittee.

In addition to regulatory activities the Deputy CEO will contribute to the performance and culture of the VRQA as a member of the executive leadership team supporting people and organisational development, and innovation.
