**About the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations**

**The Role**
There are multiple EL-1 positions available within the Policy and Modelling branch of the National Skills Agreement (NSA) Taskforce.
**Funding Policy Team (Policy & Modelling Branch)**
Responsibilities include:
- Analyse and develop financial policy advice and positions.
- Supporting and advising branches and teams within and outside of the Taskforce on the interaction of policy positions with the funding model; in particular, working with the modelling team, accurately articulating policy positions to inform scenario modelling.
- Preparing responses to ad hoc queries and preparation of talking points and briefs for Ministers and SES to inform negotiations.
- Assist in drafting the NSA clauses and ensuring it accurately reflects the financial policy.
- Supervising and mentoring staff in a high performing team.
- Working closely with the Director to manage workflow and participate in meetings with Senior Executives.
**NSA Coordination and Strategy Section**
- work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and state and territory colleagues.
- work closely with central agencies to support the management of policy approval processes.
- analyse evidence to develop high-quality policy advice.
- develop strategy and support negotiation with state and territory officials, and
- manage and mentor staff to support a high performing team.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
We are seeking motivated and high-performing individuals with the following skills and capabilities:
- Understanding of government processes, including experience in policy development.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information in a non-technical manner to a range of audiences; draw and present logical conclusions from data and the impacts of recommended solutions.
- Strategic thinking and focus, with an ability to understand the broader context of their work, anticipate future priorities and risks, and appropriately balance competing influences.
- Excellent flexibility and time management skills, including the ability to reprioritise and work responsively; positively and proactively respond to uncertainty.
- Be effective team members, with strong collaboration and coordination skills.
- The ability to understand and interpret financial information and modelling data to inform policy development is highly desirable.
**Qualifications and Education**
Experience in policy development is essential.
