**The Challenge**

As the Environmental Planner you will be responsible for delivering key elements of Hunter Water's Environmental Management System including provision of environmental planning and technical support, coordination of environmental improvement projects and environmental reporting.

**What you’ll do**:

- Provide technical and project management support related to specific environmental issues such as environmental impact assessment, biodiversity, waste, heritage and land contamination
- Provide technical support to operational areas to support the response to and resolution of environmental incidents and associated investigations
- Assist with environmental training and awareness building across key business areas

**What you’ll need to be successful**:
**Essential Criteria**:

- Tertiary qualifications in an Engineering or Science discipline OR equivalent suitable professional qualifications
- Demonstrated work experience in the development and implementation of environmental policies and strategies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to influence others
- Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders across multi-disciplinary work teams and environments
- Well-developed analytical and innovation skills with the ability to deliver change and business improvements to enhance environmental performance and outcomes
- Proven commitment to continuous personal development

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Experience in running field investigations into environmental incidents
- Experience in environmental impact assessment and environment approvals related to water projects
- Working knowledge of environmental legislation that is applicable to water utility activities and operations
