**Join the friendly and professional team as an Office Manager in the Speech Pathology & Audiology Departments**

As the Office Manager, you will be responsible for the management of an efficient administration support service to clinicians within the Speech Pathology & Audiology Departments with a key focus on the Cochlear Implant Surgery Program.

Duties include coordination of clinical administrative services, generation of activity and efficiency reports and supervision of other clerical staff. The Office Manager is required to exercise a high level of discretion and autonomy and contribute expertise to resolve issues within a day-to-day environment. The position requires the use of sound knowledge, judgment and work organisational skills in order to contribute to or interpret administrative matters for which there are not always clearly established practices or procedures.

The Office Manager is expected to provide a full range of reception duties both via telephone and over the counter, receiving and redirecting inquiries, taking messages, accepting referrals, providing information to the public on community services/agencies. This position provides a reception service to patients, staff and visitors. The position also requires experience, specific knowledge and developed skills in communicating with clients with hearing loss and communication difficulties and their families, as well as some technical expertise in the operation and maintenance of specific hearing devices and equipment.

Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing are essential to this position and the ability to deal with different information systems and staff cultures within the public health and tertiary education sector. Dealing with clients with complex situations and sometimes in a distressed emotional state will be essential to this position. The Office Manager would also need to be familiar with medical terminology, practices and services and exercise both tact and discretion in dealing with matters of a confidential nature.
