**About the role**
This is a** permanent**, **full-time**, Monday to Friday position working **35 hours** per week. The position is located at the **Nowra Administration Building**.

**Duties**
Reporting directly to the Manager - Media & Communications, the focus of this position is to:

- Write communications plans specific to each project that provide best approach to reach target audiences.
- Develop written, audio, video and photographic content for all media including digital, traditional, internal, and external platforms.
- Meet regularly with teams across Council to understand current issues, learn about projects and initiatives and provide communications advice.
- Collaborate with the Media and Communications team to cohesively update content to social media, website, and other digital platforms.
- Monitor social media channels and other news websites to develop awareness of issues as they arise and formulate approach to counter any misinformation.
- Liaise with staff to develop media responses within tight deadlines.
- Write and develop content specifically for media use, including media releases, audio grabs, scripts, photographs, video, etc.

**Skills & Experience**
To be successful in the position, you will possess:

- Degree in communication, journalism, public relations, OR equivalent experience.
- Experience in developing communications material for media, government, or corporation.
- Demonstrated understanding of current issues and trends in government or industry communication or community engagement activities.
- Demonstrated experience in writing informative and creative communication material.
- Experience generating digital written and visual content for corporate or government authority.
- Proof of Australian residency or citizenship

This is a grade range position, therefore in accordance with qualifications, accreditation, experience and demonstrated skills, the prospective employee will be assessed as either Grade 8, 9 or 10.

Grade 8 - Salary: $71,574 - $80,451 p.a. plus 11% Super
Grade 9 - Salary: $77,416 - $90,120 p.a. plus 11% Super
Grade 10 - Salary: $85,501 - $98,211 p.a. plus 11% Super
