**About the role**
The key function of this role is to undertake kinship care Part B assessments following referral from Child Protection, and to identify and provide the support required to ensure the stability of the kinship placement. This may involve the provision of family services support for a period of time.
The position may be required to carry a mixed case load of First Supports and contracted case management.
The objectives of the new kinship care model are to:

- Identify kinship networks early;
- Strengthen reunification, where appropriate;
- Promote placement quality and support children and young people living with kinship families to thrive; and
- Promote placement stability, including reducing the likelihood of entry into residential care.

**About You**
- Diploma, degree or equivalent in Youth Work, Social Work, Social Welfare Sector or the like is desirable
- Experience in working and engaging with Aboriginal children and families in a culturally respectful and competent manner
- Excellent conceptual and writing skills, with the ability to write reports, including Part B assessment Reports and court reports.
- Ability to advocate for Aboriginal children and communicate in a clear, culturally appropriate and respectful way with a range of stakeholders including staff and external parties.
- Ability to identify the training and support needs of kinship carers, particularly non-Aboriginal kinship carers in terms of their cultural competence and connection to the Aboriginal community
- **Requirement**: Current COVID-19 vaccination, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a valid Victorian Drivers Licence
