**About the role**

This is a great opportunity to support post compulsory school age learners with permanent cognitive and / or intellectual disabilities as a teacher of courses in Transition and/or Work Education. As a TE/WE teacher you will support students to: become active participants in the community; develop life skills; explore suitable future options such as employment, further study or community participation. Up to 21 hours per week is allocated for teaching. Your role will involve developing learning resources, training and assessing students whilst maintaining accurate records and time is allocated for this within your weekly hours.

Certificate 1 in Transition Education and Certificate 1 and 11 in Work Education are delivered at our relaxed and friendly Footscray Nicholson St Campus, which has childcare facilities and a recreation centre or St Albans Campus. As a teacher at Victoria University Polytechnic, you will have access to a range of benefits and services, provided by the University.

**The role is being offered at Teacher 3.1 to 5.2 classification and the salary range is between $83,506- $105,886 per annum plus 17% employer superannuation. This is a Full-Time (36.75 hours per week), **continuing position located predominantly at our Footscray Nicholson campuses.**

**About the person**

You must be passionate and keen to support our students in discovering future options and preparing them for the future whether it be in employment, further education and/or an active member of the community. Your great communication skills will be a key asset for your teaching.
- Hold TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or TAE40110 with required upskill units TAEASS502 and TAELLN411 or TAELLN401A. If you do not hold TAE40116, we can support you to obtain it. You need to have a willingness to continually learn and develop as a professional trainer and assessor.
- Hold a valid E Class (employee) Working with Children Check or current VIT registration to be able to undertake this role.
- Have demonstrable expertise in teaching in the special education field:

- This expertise can be demonstrated by either holding a formal qualification such as: Bachelor of Education with a Special Education specialisation area Graduate Diploma in Special Education, Masters degree which includes a Special Education specialisation such as: Master of Special Education Master of Education (Special Education needs) OR
- Evidencing relevant knowledge of theories, methods and practices in teaching learners with a range of intellectual disabilities through a combination of activities such as: ongoing relevant professional development engagement with disability teacher networks peer review of teaching / third party report detailing performance documented relevant teaching experience

**Duties**

An example of duties you may perform will include:

- Facilitate learning and establish educational and assessment strategies to suit our diverse student cohort across a range of delivery methods, including on-line, classroom based and blended delivery.
- Research, develop and customise learning materials, training and assessment
- Assess of student performance in accordance with the requirements of the curriculum
- Establish and maintain a positive learning environment
- Ensure quality and compliance requirements are met
