We are on the lookout for a Head of Safety - Operations to join our People team.

As the Head of Safety - Operations, you will provide overarching leadership and direction for Safety operations across each of Bupa Asia Pacific’s Business Units. As well as leading and managing a team of Senior Safety Managers who oversee WHS operations within each area, the Head of Safety - Operations ensures that the design, implementation, and maintenance of WHS operations aligns with the overall Market Unit safety strategy, promoting a cohesive and proactive safety culture.

To be successful, you will have senior level advisory experience within WHS and demonstrated experience leading a high performing team and executive stakeholder communication.

This role will be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.

**How will you make an impact?**

Key responsibilities include:

- Oversee the planning, development, and execution of Australian business unit WHS strategies and ensuring alignment with the broader Bupa Global Safety Strategy.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to Senior WHS Managers to ensure consistency and alignment across all business units.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of WHS reports to Business Unit leadership teams, providing insights on WHS business unit risks, controls, and performance.
- Prepare and analyse data, to enable senior leadership understanding of key risks, controls, performance to drive appropriate action.
- Prepare high quality operational safety reporting and presentations to increase understanding and engagement of senior leadership.
- Advise on WHS operational matters, leveraging data to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Ensure the execution, monitoring, and reporting of strategic WHS processes, projects, and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant WHS legislation, regulations, and standards across the business.
- Continuously monitor WHS compliance, staying abreast of changes in legislation, regulations, and industry standards, and leading necessary actions.
- Ensure the regular validation and testing of risk controls by systematically reviewing their effectiveness, identifying potential weaknesses, and implementing necessary improvements to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.

**What do I need?**
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline.
- Strong experience in health and/or care industry.
- Expert knowledge of relevant WHS legislation, regulations, standards, and requirements.
- Extensive experience in senior level consultancy, advisory and/or management and an associated achievement in WHS in a large and complex organisation.
- Proven track record leading a team of Senior WHS professionals.
- Strong organisation skills to support program enhancement, alignment and tracking for continuous success and improvement.
- Ability to analyse, interpret and present data.
- Evidenced effective executive communication experience, inclusive of successful Board level engagement.
- Able to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders including senior leaders and executive teams, technical and functional specialists, business facing People Business Partners and Consultants.
