The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.

**The Team**
The AEC has a dispersed network of 151 electoral divisions, 30 of which are located across Queensland including the State Office in Brisbane CBD and 14 single and multi-divisional office sites across the state.
The current vacancy for Service Officer is located within Cairns, Queensland. The Service Officer position supports the Team Leaders and works alongside a small dynamic team.
For the delivery of a federal election or local by-elections, staffing rapidly expands to help manage the increased workload around risk management, fast-moving project work and logístical activities, media and public scrutiny.
**The Opportunity**
You will provide frontline client services to members of the public, including answering enquiries on and assisting with electoral enrolment and during an electoral event, the Service Officer may also be required to supervise a small team as well as provide training to aid in the delivery of planned activities.

- Have accountability for the completion of allocated tasks, making decisions within defined parameters relating to the position, and reviewing work for Service Support Officers and temporary election workforce employees during an electoral event.

- AEC employees must be Australian citizens.
