Business Trainee: Department of Families, Fairness

This **12 month traineeship **based in the **Melbourne CBD **provides support to the Executive Leadership Team.
**Youth Employment Scheme (YES)**

**Eligibility Criteria**
- Be aged between 15 and 29 years at the commencement of the traineeship
- Not currently engaged in tertiary education
- Not have attained a university level qualification (excluding 1-4 certificates)
**Position Overview**
The Administration Support Trainee works within a small team which provides support to Executives and Ministers. The trainee has an opportunity to work across a diverse range of divisions within the department.

**Key accountabilities**
- Coordinate the branch’s input and responses to requests from other parts of the department.
- Coordinate meetings and assist in preparing agendas and note-taking when required.
- Perform computer-based tasks including preparing and sending standard written communications.
- Communicate and liaise effectively with managers, staff and external stakeholders to assist in the professional operation of the area.
- Handle and process confidential documentation, tasks may include photocopying / scanning, filing, mailing, and inputting data and information into the department’s databases and systems.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies.
- Manage stationery stock levels for the Executive Services branch.
- Undertake a range of administrative functions to support the Executive Leadership team.
- Risk reporting - where you become aware of any risk to safety of a staff member, client or member of the public escalate to senior staff.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
