**But enough about us, let’s talk about you**
We are in the market for a self-motivated and experienced individual who is able to:
- Undertake general parks and gardens maintenance throughout the City, including the maintenance of road corridors and other City owned and managed assets and land.
- Between October to March inclusive undertake designated horticulture and turf renovation and maintenance programs (turf wicket maintenance). The applicant must be able to work full-time during the cricket season including 2 hours of scheduled work every Saturday and Sunday.
**What impact will you make?**
- You like to work as part of a team, under the direction of the Team Leader, in all aspects of general parks and gardens maintenance, including:
- Operation of ride-on mowers, edgers, blowers, and brush cutters.
- Operating of tractors for general activities, such as slashing and turf renovations.
- General litter collection, cleaning up and the blowing down of paved surfaces.
- Undertaking tree planting and street watering programs as directed.
- You will be required to undertake basic daily maintenance and safety inspections of mowing machinery used in the course of duty.
- You have extensive knowledge of turf skills practices and cultivation including fertilising, line marking, mowing, top-dressing, rolling, cleaning, sweeping and controlling growth of grass
- You have the ability to carry out irrigation installation and repairs
- You are friendly, and will respond to customer enquiries (in the field) in a professional and courteous manner.
**What can you bring to the team?**
- Certificate II in Horticulture and/or qualifications in turf management or demonstrated equivalent experience
- Current White Card
- Previous experience in a parks and gardens environment
- General understanding of how to monitor and maintain an irrigation system
- Competent in the use of tablets, smartphones and other electronic devices
- Current unrestricted MR (Medium Rigid) class national drivers’ licence (desirable)
- Current Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) and Traffic Controller Certificate (desirable)
- Current Basic First Aid Certificate (desirable)
- Front End Loader Ticket (desirable)
- Chainsaw ticket (desirable)
- As part of our recruitment process, you will be required to participate in a full pre-employment medical that includes drug and alcohol testing
**The finer details**
This fulltime position attracts a pro-rata salary range of OSE Level 2 $64,554 - $66,232 gross per annum between April and September and a pro-rata salary range of OSE Level 4 $70,252 - $72,759 gross per annum October to March when undertaking turf wicket preparations and maintenance work. The salary range is dependent on qualifications and experience. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce.
