Melbourne City Centre, Australia Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action Full time

The Manager Financial Reporting and Taxation leads and coordinates the preparation of the department's financial statements and several significant finance projects relating to accounting for service concession arrangements, crown land, employee benefits and right of use leases.
The role provides technical accounting advice and manages the department's external reporting obligations to external authorities including the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF), the Victorian Auditor-General's Office (VAGO), the Australian Tax Office (ATO) and other key internal stakeholders such as the Risk and Audit Committee (RAC).
The role requires leadership, excellent project management skills, accounting expertise and the ability to liaise and stakeholders management skills are necessary. Good knowledge of government policy, accounting standards, taxation laws, implement process improvement and will be the lead support for continuing the business operations of the Financial Reporting team.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Degree in finance, accounting or commerce.
- Member of CPA/CA.
- A strong working knowledge of government accounting, including the Financial Management Act and how departmental data feeds to DTF.
- Knowledge of the Good and Service Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax rules also desirable.
- Knowledge of financial systems with experience in Oracle Finance desirable.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
