Corporate Finance
The Manager Financial Reporting and Compliance is responsible for delivering monthly, quarterly and half yearly reporting, including statutory/financial reporting (annual financial statements).
You will provide authoritative advice relating to accounting and reporting issues and ensure compliance with statutory, departmental and professional standards, including the Australian Accounting Standards, Financial Management Act, Standing Directions, applicable legislation and policies and procedures.
About the role
- Co-ordinate and lead the preparation of the annual financial statements including reporting to the whole-of-government consolidation and managing the relationship with the Victorian Auditor General's Office.
- Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly and half yearly financial reporting, including analysis and commentary and ensuring reporting is provided for whole-of-government consolidation;
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, departmental and professional standards, including the Australian Accounting Standards, Financial Management Act, Standing Directions, applicable legislation and policies and procedures;
- Provide authoritative, technical and strategic accounting policy advice to management, including analysis and interpretation of relevant accounting standards (IFRS) as well as accounting directions issued by the State government.
- Manage the processes to ensure compliance, and completion of certifications required under the State's Taxation Compliance Framework and Financial Management Compliance Framework.
- Develop the capability of the Financial Reporting and Compliance team through coaching and ongoing training;
- Liaise with the Victorian Auditor General's Office, internal auditors and Whole of Government Accounting Policy Group on issues that impact reporting obligations;
- Support and contribute to the work of the broader Corporate Finance Group to achieve group and broader divisional goals.

About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

- Extensive experience in financial management reporting and analysis, Australian Accounting Standards, taxations issues and government processes;
- Proven leadership qualities in supporting and developing a high performing team culture, building capability and coaching and inspiring team members;
- Capacity to set priorities and maintain constructive behaviours within a complex, busy and fast paced environment;
- Advanced conceptual and analytical skills including the ability to identify emerging issues and provide robust solutions that ensure quality delivery of outcomes;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, relationship management skills demonstrated at a senior level; and the ability to negotiate and influence at all levels
- Finance or Accounting degree.
- Professional qualification such as CA or CPA.
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of key processes involved in government budgeting and finance and in the delivery of government business including knowledge of the Financial Management Act 1994 and Standing Directions.
