Position Purpose Statement
We have an exciting opportunity for a Sourcing and Category Specialist to join our Procurement and Supply Chain team.
In this role, you will be responsible for the development, deployment and management of sourcing and category strategies for the Technology category in order to deliver sustained value and competitive advantage to Metro Trains Melbourne. Reporting to the Sourcing and Category Manager, you will work in a dynamic and supportive team environment that values unique and diverse thinking and promotes career development to help you achieve your aspirations.
You will also have the opportunity to work with the Sourcing and Category Manager on establishing Category Plans across Technology hardware, software, and professional services.
About the Role
As the Sourcing and Category Specialist, you will:
- Provide a central point of sourcing and category spend expertise and knowledge for users across Metro Trains
- Lead the development of procurement strategies to manage goods/services consistent with overall companysourcing goalsand strategies
- Establish business requirements/specifications and identify supplier base with input from internal customers
- Work with senior business leaders to develop sourcing and category strategies for key spend areas
- Develop and lead sourcing events from strategy to contract execution
- Constantly monitor the supplier market and identify opportunities resulting from new product offerings and/or market shifts
- Work with the Sourcing & Category Manager to perform detailed spend and market analysis to inform strategic category strategies and contract planning
- Plan and agree on procurement strategy with the business units ahead of contract expiries or deadlines
- Perform detailed spend data, market and business analysis and make recommendations on business process improvement and supplier engagement

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated sourcing experience preferably in Information Technology (Preferable)
- Understanding of procurement methodologies as applied tosourcing and category management framework
- Experience in contract preparation, negotiation, execution and management as well as supplier development/management
- Experiencein leading sourcing projects across cross-functional teams
- A mindset to challenge the status quo and out-of-the-box thinking
- Strong communication and relationship management skills
