As Evaluation Officer (qualitative focus), you will play a key role in supporting evaluation projects within the Victorian Government (Department of Health and Department of Families, Fairness, and Housing).
Your primary responsibilities will involve assisting with the design and implementation of evaluations, using various methodologies to contribute to the development of recommendations that align with government priorities.
In this role, you will focus on contributing to the completion of projects, managing your tasks efficiently, and integrating feedback to continuously improve your work. Your efforts will support the strategic and operational goals of the Victorian Government.

**Knowledge and Skills**
Qualitative Analysis - Ability to support the collection of fit for purpose and fit for cohort qualitative data through interviews, focus groups, and observations, with support from senior team members. Ability to support survey administration e.g. through with sampling, questionnaire design, and deployment using tools like Qualtrics, under direct supervision.
Support qualitative data analysis: Assist in thematic analysis and synthesis, including taking detailed notes in consultations, accurately summarise and identify key themes, and select representative quotes for inclusion in reports with supervision from other team members
Evaluation design and execution - Knowledge of design options for evaluations using mixed methods approaches.
Continuous Improvement - Commitment to contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and a feedback culture.
Communication and Reporting - Commitment to create clear and impactful reports and presentations. Ability to effectively communicate complex data and recommendations to diverse audiences.

**Qualifications and Specialist Expertise**
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in public health, evaluation,, psychology, health and social sciences, public policy, or another discipline with a strong evaluative and strong qualitative research methods focus component would be desirable.
- Applicants with a tertiary qualification in other fields but with work experience in the above fields and experience in qualitative evaluation techniques would also be considered suitable.
Specialist Expertise
- Experience and expertise in program or policy evaluation.
- Experience in financial modelling, economic evaluation and/or cost-benefit analysis.
