Melbourne, Australia Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) Full time

The Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union (AMWU) is a progressive Union dedicated to advancing the rights and wellbeing of manufacturing workers and our communities.

We are driven by our values. We are democratic, inclusive, fair and respectful; we do what we say; and we work strategically, standing together as one to deliver outcomes for members.

With a rich history and commitment to social justice, we pride ourselves on bold member-led campaigns that effect real change and build workers’ power.

Safety is core union business for AMWU members. Over many decades, our members have organised and campaigned for rigorous industry safety standards so that every worker can go home safe and healthy at the end of their shift. Every day in workplaces around the country, AMWU health and safety representatives (HSRs) are organising in their workplaces to identify safety hazards and enforce high standards on the job.

The National Work Health & Safety Campaign Organiser will support members to continue their important work by coordinating strategic campaigns, building power across key industries, and developing the capacity of our workplace leaders.

Working in our dynamic national organising unit, you will be responsible for identifying emerging issues in health and safety, undertaking research, developing campaign plans and working with health and safety officers employed in our Branches. You’ll provide advice to the national union and represent the AMWU on external WHS bodies. You’ll also play a pivotal role in driving growth and increasing our health and safety capacity across the union.

If you are passionate about building worker power, have experience as a union organiser or campaigner, have a working knowledge of WHS/OHS legislation and are looking for an opportunity to use your skills and experience in a place where they can really make a difference, then we would love to hear from you.

Further details of the position and selection criteria can be found in the job description.
