What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Policy Support Officer - CTSI Strategy & Coordination Team.

CTSI will undertake this process to fill current vacancies in both the Counter Terrorism Strategy and Coordination (CTSC) team and the Special Investigations Strategy and Coordination (SI-SC) team.

The role of the CTSC team is to provide centralised support to multijurisdictional joint counter terrorism (CT) operations, provide strategic support through the effective management of functional information, and provide CT policy and administrative support to the AFP Executive and Government, as well as strategic forums such as the Joint Counter Terrorism Board.

SI is responsible for investigating complex and protracted investigations that are high-level, complex and sensitive in nature, to reduce or prevent harm to Australia’s National Security or National interests. SI-SC provide high-level, timely and strategic policy advice and administrative support to investigators and the AFP Executive and Government. Further, SI-SC perform secretariat duties to the AFP’s Sensitive Investigations Oversight Board.

The two teams work collaboratively to support the business of the CTSI Command.

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

**Team members are responsible for delivering the following**:
Researching, analysing and formulating positions on existing and emerging National Security, Counter Terrorism and Special Investigations policy issues;
Contributing to Whole of Government and interagency work in the Counter Terrorism and Special Investigations context;
Contributing to advice to Government and other partners with regards to AFP Counter Terrorism and Special Investigations;
Consulting and liaising with all relevant areas of the AFP and external stakeholders on complex policy and law enforcement issues;
Contributing to responses to media and FOI enquiries;
Collation of fortnightly functional reports to State Police and partner agencies;
Contributing to the development and implementation of corporate policies, processes and systems which enhance the delivery of AFP operational outcomes; and
Providing high-level secretariat duties for AFP Senior Executive level forums.
Essential requirements
A Negative Vetting 2 security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Effective written and verbal communication, including high attention to detail.
An ability to work in a complex, dynamic and sensitive environment.
Desirable requirements
Demonstrated stakeholder management skills and the ability to form productive working relationships as a member of a team.
Awareness and understanding of external government, Attorney-General’s, Home Affairs, AFP corporate, operational, and business requirements.
