**Employment type - Temporary Full-Time role up to 6 months**

**Salary - **($89,707 pa - $98,982 pa), plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading**

**Your role**

There is an exciting opportunity to use your analytical skills to shape future policy direction. The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) Economics team utilises innovative economic and financial modelling methods to assess the strategy and cost effectiveness of DCJ services and programs.

**What you’ll do**

As an Assistant Economic Analyst, you will be responsible for assisting and undertaking modelling and analysis across a variety of projects to provide valuable insight and advice for DCJ Districts and Program areas.

Insights, Analysis and Research supports rigorous research, evaluation, data analysis and reporting across DCJ. The team works with policy makers, program managers and service designers, districts and the frontline, to identify evidence needs and the best ways to build and deliver evidence to those who need it.

**What we’re looking for**

**Requirements**:

- Suitable tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Numeric and problem-solving capabilities.
- Good excel skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate succinctly, including communicating technical work to non-technical clients.

In addition to meeting the essential requirements, any of the following capabilities and experience would be highly regarded:

- Some experience with statistical software (for example, SAS, SPSS, R, Python).
- Actuarial qualifications
- Complex financial modelling experience
