The Directorate of Navy Governance has a newly created APS6 Governance Officer position which is required to contribute to the implementation of the N Library’s authoring support program on behalf of SO1 N Library and undertake editorial tasks for publications authored by other Navy areas.

The N Library is Navy’s knowledge repository containing Navy’s policy, doctrine, frameworks, systems of management, orders, processes, instructions and procedures that facilitate the achievement of the Navy Mission. The APS6 Governance Officer will support the maintenance, updating and facilitation of access to this knowledge. The Governance Officer will assist with current, harmonised and accurate content that will support the achievement of the Navy Mission as well as Navy’s ability to demonstrate compliance with Commonwealth legislations and Defence policy.
- Assist with the completion of allocated authoring & editing requirements, from strategic policy to the development of systems of management for Navy's Functional Level Policy Officers.
- Assist with the development and authoring of complex policy documents, governance frameworks and systems of management to facilitate Navy's achievement of the Seaworthiness outcome.
- Assist stakeholders in understanding the N Library authoring process and their obligations with respect to achieving authoring outcomes.
- Assist with the review and revision of complex documents for policy, governance, legislative matters and initiatives to ensure alignment with N Library content that they are authoring.
- Provide advice and assistance to internal and external stakeholders on complex governance matters in accordance with relevant policy and procedures.
- Assist stakeholders in understanding the authoring process and their obligations with respect to managing authoring outcomes.
- Develop an extensive understanding of Navy, its functional architecture and governance model and how it interacts within the One Defence model.

**About our Team**
Working to the Director Navy Governance, you are part of the team that is embedded in a dynamic environment, supporting Navy Outcome 5. You will be part of the Navy Governance team which currently consists of a blended workforce of ADF, APS and Contractors. The key part of your role will be working with the Navy Library which supports Navy’s Leadership, Governance and Operational Outcomes. It is the online repository for guides, manuals, policy, doctrine, process and other supporting documentation required by Navy.

Through its central authoring program, the N Library Program provides authoring support services to assist Sub-Library Managers with maintaining their sub-library content. You will be a key member of the N Library Governance team, accountable for the development of high priority Tier 3 and below Australian Navy Publications and the provision of N Library editorial input. The N Library authoring program assists Navy’s Domain Policy Officers and Functional Level Policy Officers with the development and upkeep of their key governance publications.
