About the role

We are seeking a values-driven Support Worker to support clients of Canberra Recovery Services through the process of alcohol and other drug treatment in a residential rehabilitation, ensuring a safe and structured environment is maintained in accordance with TSA guidelines, within a person centred, recovery-based service.

You will successfully
- Provide appropriate support to participants in line with established frameworks and TSA policy and procedure.
- Assist case workers to address client needs, administer the program, contribute to case plans and provide supervision to participants.
- Demonstrate commitment to an environment that values continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of high quality services.
- Supervise the self-administration of medication as required and record as per TSA policy and procedure.
- Monitor participant movements in and out of the centre, ensuring only appropriate records are maintained.
- Assist with taking incoming calls and and visitors to the centre.
- Maintains a sound working knowledge of all relevant TSA policies and procedures relating to area of responsibility.
- TSA core values and behaviours demonstrated in all work related activities.
- Services are delivered in line with the National Model of Care.
- In line with agreed delegations, make decisions consistent with TSA and centre policy and procedures in relation to participant and staff matters.
- Participant information is accurate, comprehensive, in accordance with TSA and centre guidelines, and provided in required timeframes.

This is a permanent, full-time position located in Fyshwick, ACT. Salary and conditions are in accrodance with the SCHADS Level 2

You will have
- Minimum of Certificate IV level qualification in a relevant discipline (AOD, Community Services, Case Management).
- Completed 4 AOD Skill Set Units (or willing to undertake/complete during employment).
- Professional development required to maintain skills for the role.
- Current Drivers licence.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviours utilising deescalation techniques.
- Comply with The Salvation Army Organisational Code of Conduct which includes an alcohol, gambling and drug free workplace
- First aid certificate.
- Sound computer literacy.
- Ability to critically reflect on professional practice and attitudes.
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team both internally and externally.
- High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and negotiate with a range of internal and external clients.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and continuous improvement strategies.
- Highly effective planning, organisational, problem solving and evaluation skills.
- Seeks new ideas, embraces new opportunities and adapts to change.
- TSA core values and behaviours demonstrated in all work related activities.
