We offer a range of services including Harm Reduction and Primary Health Services as well as a range of treatment types (including residential treatment centres, community-based support programs, counselling and withdrawal management services).

Located in Fyshwick, Canberra Recovery Service provides a 24-hour residential rehabilitation centre and community-based programs.

Our service provides:

  • A safe, drugfree environment in order to establish a healthier lifestyle
  • Comprehensive assessment, individualised treatment/recovery plans and case management
  • Holistic treatment service that focus on physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing, individualised 11 sessions, facilitated groups and living skills training

THE ROLE
We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Support Worker to welcome and support clients through the process of alcohol and other drug withdrawal and residential rehabilitation

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Provide appropriate support to participants in line with established frameworks and TSA policy and procedure
  • Assist case workers and nursing staff to address client needs, administer the program, contribute to case plans and provide supervision to participants.
  • Assist with incoming calls and visitors to the centre
  • Ensure a safe and substance free environment ensuring risks are identified and managed including deescalation of situations
  • Effective relationships are established with clients that encourage selfdetermination and participation

HOURS AND SALARY
Part-time position. The service requires a commitment to work a set-days and shifts to cover 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm including some weekends. Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 3

You will have

  • Knowledge and experience of working within AOD and/or mental health setting
  • Good understanding of risk management
  • Ability to work across a 24hour roster
  • Experience working with complex needs/comorbidities
  • Minimum of Certificate IV level qualification in a relevant discipline (AOD, Community Services, Case Management) including core AOD Units (or willing to undertake/complete during employment).
  • Availability for a range of shifts including overnight shifts
  • High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and negotiate with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good planning, organisational, problem solving and evaluation skills.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • A current Australian Drivers Licence
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
