**Role**:
Two days per week 8am - 4pm

Library Assistant

Qualities and skills required for the position:

- A friendly and warm nature, with demonstrated examples of working well with individual and groups of teenagers in a very busy environment
- Self-motivation and independence, while being able to work under direction
- High level of computer literacy with Windows suite, Destiny or other Library Management System, Compass and Microsoft teams, or demonstrated ability to learn
- Experience working in a library and/or qualification as a Library Assistant or Library Technician would be highly regarded but is not essential

Undertakes routine tasks that are usually carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available.

A typical day will involve:

- Helping to create a welcoming environment through communication with students and staff
- Staffing the information desk, including assisting with supervision of students
- Processing of new books, including covering and sorting
- Promoting books and resources to students and staff, including assisting with displays in the Library
- Shelving books and tidying shelves to encourage reading
- Assisting students and staff with technical issues, such as printing and using computer programs
- Assisting Library Monitors (students) with training and ongoing tasks
- Assisting with clubs and special events in the library, including moving furniture
- Light cleaning, such as sweeping floors and cleaning tables
- Attending meetings and training as required
