**About us**

Hornsby Shire is located on Sydney's upper north shore, approximately 25 kilometres north of the CBD and approximately 45 minutes south of the Central Coast. Known as the ‘Bushland Shire’, our local government area is characterised by bushland comprising national park, major waterways, natural reserves and rural landscapes, with the rest of the Shire combining urban, rural and open spaces.

**About the role**

We are seeking a passionate and driven individual eager to contribute to the conservation and protection of Hornsby Shire’s water cycle, waterways and catchments. As a member of the Catchments Team, part of Council’s Environment Branch, you will be responsible for ensuring the sustainable management of Hornsby’s catchment areas, which are essential for the health of the Shires waterways, aquatic ecosystems and communities.

The role involves/ is responsible for:

- Developing and implementing catchment-based management plans
- Delivery of advice, education and engagement programs to stakeholders
- Undertaking investigations, field surveys, research, data analysis and interpretation to guide appropriate management of water quality, estuarine processes, aquatic ecosystem health and water sensitive urban design.

**About you**

This role encompasses a diverse array of working environments, ranging from the captivating outdoors of our bushland shire and the picturesque Hawkesbury estuary to laboratory work and collaborating with a dynamic team of committed environmental officers in our state-of-the-art office located in Hornsby.

We seek a proactive and enthusiastic individual, well-suited for outdoor work, possessing excellent organisational, interpersonal, and time-management skills. The role demands the ability to plan and implement projects, secure grants, and provide assistance to fellow staff members within the Environment Branch to ensure successful task achievement.
