**The opportunity**:
The Population Allergy Group resides within the Population Health theme at MCRI and is lead by A/Prof Kirsten Perrett. The Population Allergy Group focuses on three key research areas of allergic disorders - prevention, intervention and management. The current trial program lead by A/Prof Perrett includes 12 investigator-lead and sponsored clinical trials that are undertaken with the support of the Melbourne Children’s Trials Centre. The Group is also involved in a number of other clinical trials/research in areas of vaccine allergy, sleep-disordered breathing and the COVID-19 pandemic. A series of globally unique longitudinal cohorts including HealthNuts, SchoolNuts and EarlyNuts underpins a comprehensive suite of epidemiological studies examining the natural history, modifiable risk factors and economic burden of food allergy. In addition, the extensive Population Allergy biosample library supports laboratory-based studies into improved allergy diagnostics and immune profiling. Since 2013, the Population Allergy Group has hosted the Centre for Food Allergy Research, which is a National Centre of Research Excellence and through its leadership team has an extensive network of local, national and international collaborators and established working relationships with industry. The Group employs over 35 staff including clinicians, epidemiologists, post-doctoral

researchers, research nurses, research assistants, post-graduate students and volunteers and hosts another 22 honorary positions.

The primary focus of the Population Allergy Research Clinician role is to provide hospital-based supervision for all research food challenges and study visits. It involves assessment and management of episodes of severe food allergic reactions e.g.: anaphylaxis. This position will ensure appropriate clinical management of participants at discharge e.g. provision of adrenaline auoinjector scripts as required and liaise with research nurses to ensure adequate education for families and follow-up of allergic children. The role will also include review of adverse events and assessment/assignment of severity, seriousness and causality. This position has scope to include involvement, development and leadership in Population Allergy research activities.

**Your responsibilities include**:
Attending serious adverse reactions/events, including anaphylaxis
Providing information and taking consent for prospective study participants at study visits
Analysing and reviewing of allergy clinical history/testing and clinical trial data and sign-off as require
Assisting in provision of specialist input in area of expertise to research projects

**About you**:
Tertiary qualification in Medicine plus an appropriate level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation
Current AHPRA registration
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
(Desirable) Knowledge of food allergy research and clinical oral food challenges, including management of allergic reactions.
(Desirable) Experience in clinical research
